Authors Note: this essay is to show how Johny was stereotyped and about his life and what it led up to.
Johnny is the kind of guy who can be majorly stereotyped one minute and be exactly the opposite the next. In this essay I am going to analyze Johnny from the beginning to the end of the story and his life.
Johnny is a little more sensitive guy that is not too fond of the soc’s. He is like this because about a year ago he was jumped by a bunch of soc’s and he basically in a way cracked and became a little bit softer. When the greasers discovered Johnny in the empty lot all balled up and crying many of the greasers said they hadn’t seen him cry up until that moment. Johnny will do anything to protect the greaser from the soc’s because he doesn’t want them to go through what he did.
I honestly think Johnny is a dynamic character because he changed in ways in the end but he still was a nice person to begin with. I think this because he was jumped by the soc’s which made him a little softer but yet more aggressive. Which makes him not want to see any greasers hurt because of that he ends up killing bob because he almost drown ponyboy. Then they end up on the run which leads them to accidently burning down a church. When he saw this he realized kids were in there so he went in saved them and ended up in the hospital from being severely burned. In the hospital he was visited by his parents but he didn’t allow them in because of the way they always treated him. After that he was starting to pass away and before he died he told pony to stay gold and gave him a note which basically said to keep dally on the bright side of things.
Johnny’s actions affect the story because for one reason he basically becomes the exact opposite of his own stereotype. He does this by going into the burning church to save the children in it most of the other greasers said they would never do that. Another way his action affected the story was that he got severely burned saving the kids and had to go to the hospital. This made the greasers kind of mad not at him but at the soc's. He ended up dying later which made a few people go crazy like dally because dally loved him like a brother so dally went and robbed a store. Once he did that he called the greasers and ran back to his neighborhood and they all waited at the lot he came and so did the police. Then dally pointed an unloaded gun at the police and the police shot him.
This character is a dynamic character and evolved by first giving ponyboy a blade to protect him than he killed bob to protect pony. After that he went into a burning church to save the little kids. He also didn’t let his parents see him when he was dying because they treated him so bad. I honestly believe that a character from a different story very similar is napoleon dynamite because everybody called him a nerd because of his looks and didn’t really know him. But he slowly evolved and came out of his shell from Pedro. Finally at the end when Pedro was running for student president napoleon did a performance and everybody discovered he was a decent dancer so he basically went against his stereotype just like Johnny.
In conclusion I really think that Johnny is a good guy who was a dynamic character due to the events he witnessed and the way he grew up.
I think the my essay deserves a 9 because in some way the organization was a little choppy because of my conclusion.
