Stereotyping

Authors note: this is a writing piece to explain and relate to stereotyping.

Have you ever been treated different because of the people you are friends with or hangout with in the story “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton you learn the sometimes stereotypes can get you in a lot of trouble.
When you grow up you can be brought up around different crowds and you could either be like them or the exact opposite. With the greasers most of them were brought up as more poor kids except for Johnny Darry because he was a soc but then hid parents passed away and he had to take over his family so he became a greaser. As a point many people are very stereotypical and think things about you just because of who you hang out with. For example in the book “Among the Betrayed” by Margaret Peterson Haddix the young girl Nina is stereotyped and setup to see if she’ll turn in the shadow children as illegal third children because another kid lied and said they both worked for the population police even though only he did. This was very stereotypical in ways because right away many people assumed she wasn’t trustable just because of the words of another kid.
When talking about stereotypes I also think about the movie “Napoleon Dynamite” because in this everybody thinks and calls him a nerd even though they don’t even know him. In this movie it takes the whole movie to realize that he isn’t what they think he is although he dresses like a nerd and kind of acts like one people discover he has a talent. The talent that he has is that he is good at dancing. With this talent he was able help his friend Pedro become the class president and people discovered he wasn’t what they thought he was.
Stereotyping is something that real shouldn’t occur but it happens every day from who you hang out with to what race you are you can be stereotyped which can cause you to be stereotyped.
